Race and Justice Conversation: Use of Force

August 13, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Description: In the wake of nationwide demonstrations and discussions about race and policing in America, there have been heightened calls for meaningful police reform. One potential area of reform is use of force policy, a set of rules each police department has which authorize law enforcement officers to use force in specific circumstances. This session will educate members of the Blackburn community about police use of force policies, prepare Blackburn members to find out more about their local use of force policy, and initiate a call to action for members of the Blackburn Institute to make a change in their own communities. Invited panelists include activists, community organizers, public policy researchers, academics, and members of law enforcement.

Facilitators: Jack Kappelman and Ben Leonard

Attire: Attire is casual.
