Nominations for Advisory Board members are actively solicited from current and past board members, students, and Blackburn Fellows. These nominations are reviewed by the Leadership Development Committee and, after initial conversations, forwarded to the Advisory Board for a vote by the full board. In keeping with its values, the Advisory Board strives to be a diverse body, representative of the state of Alabama, that can ensure “the Blackburn Institute maintains sufficient civic, business, political, and financial resources to carry out the mission of the institute.”
Those interested in recommending an individual for consideration should complete the nomination form and send it to email@example.com. Completed nominations received by June 1 will be considered at the fall Advisory Board meeting.
Prospective Advisory Board members are encouraged to review the institute’s website and recruitment packet to better understand our organization, mission, values, and programs. The recruitment packet includes a 2-page summary of the Institute’s vision, mission, values, and curriculum; expectations of Advisory Board members; a list of current Advisory Board members and their professional affiliations; and our 2017 Annual Connections magazine.
